Renai was rescued from a council pound in Cyprus where she had been living for months without anyone showing any interest in her. She was withdrawn, frightened and depressed. She had been surrendered to the pound after the person who previously owned her said they no longer wanted her, and it was clear that Renai had been abused as she flinched at every sudden movement.

Another rescue within Cyprus offered to help Renai find a home, but after learning that she was nervous they decided not to take her. Thankfully another rescue refused to let Renai go back to the pound from which she'd just managed to get a ticket out of, and offered to help her find a home with our help.

The day after Renai was rescued from the council pound we couldn't believe the difference in her. Although she remains a little bit 'hand shy' she is much more confident already and very keen to interact and socialise with people. Within a few weeks we think Renai's progress will be significant and she will be able to settle happily into a proper home.

Renai likes the company of other dogs, especially those with calm and gentle natures. She is happy to be picked up and stroked as long as it doesn't come as a surprise, and as she becomes more accustomed to being treated with kindness her readiness to accept touch will continue to improve no doubt. Renai would be best suited to a home in a rural/semi-rural environment with anther dog.
