Meet Debbie, a Wire-haired Fox Terrier mix from Bosnia who is sadly looking for a new home. The difficult decision has been made to rehome Debbie as her current family feel unable to offer her the right kind of home based on her behaviours which may stem from a traumatic past. Whilst Debbie is a dream in the house with people, on walks she becomes anxious and alert, taking an instant defensive stance with any other passing dogs. Despite Debbie living alongside dozens of other dogs in a kennel environment in Bosnia, upon arriving in the UK it became clear she wasn't dog friendly.
Because of this, we are looking for a home where Debbie can be the only dog. She is trusting, friendly and calm around people and is a very affectionate, loyal companion but is very changeable when she sees another dog. Debbie would be best suited to a patient but firm owner with some experience of dogs. She would also like a home with access to a secure land in a fairly remote environment where she can explore without feeling threatened. We know we're asking a lot, but this is what Debbie needs to feel safest.
Debbie loves exploring the woods but has to remain on a long lead or horse training lead. Once other dogs are out of her field of vision she is absolutely fine. She has improved a lot since being in a home but her training needs to be consistent and firm for progress to be made and unfortunately this is something her current home just can't offer. Debbie is house trained, quick to learn new things, eager to please and very loving. She is fantastic indoors and her new owners will without a doubt be offered behavioural training advice where required.
