Darcy is currently in a foster home with two other dogs after her previous adopters felt they couldn’t offer her a suitable home. Darcy is a beautiful little dog with a very sweet nature and she will blossom in the right home. Darcy was previously a street dog, and then later caged in an overcrowded council pound where she was living in horrendous conditions before being rescued. She’s looking for someone to open their heart and home to her and give her a second chance.
Darcy is on the smaller side of medium and has a very slight build. She has a beautiful soft coat and gorgeous markings - she has white eyelashes on one eye and orange eyelashes on the other! She enjoys the company of other dogs and would be happy in a home with other dogs as long as they had calm temperaments. Darcy’s past isn’t very clear but it’s thought that she has suffered at the hands of humans before as sudden movements can startle her and she is apprehensive around strangers upon first meeting them. Time will be Darcy’s healer and since arriving in the UK she has already made significant progress.
Darcy loves to snuggle on the sofa and loves being made a fuss of. She also loves food and knows the word ‘treats’! She is a gundog mix breed so absolutely loves to follow her nose. She doesn’t have good recall so needs to be on the lead, but has adapted well to using a long flexi or training lead to allow her to exercise properly without restriction. Darcy is frightened of young children and doesn’t feel comfortable in their presence.
Darcy would be best suited to a home in a rural/semi-rural area and needs a garden. With patience and understanding Darcy will make a wonderful companion and she adores her current fosterers. She needs love and reassurance most importantly, and we hope there is someone out there who can offer her the life she deserves.
