Since our co-founder, Nikki Tibbles’ project trip to Puerto Rico at the beginning of 2017, our eyes have been opened even wider to the appalling animal welfare issues and number of strays on the streets of this island. Upon Nikki’s return we decided that we had a responsibility to do everything we could to reduce the ever rising number of strays.
We have been working extremely hard over the past seven months, setting up a project in the centre of Puerto Rico. Wild at Heart Foundation have partnered with the Puerto Rican branch of the world-renowned Humane Society, a leading force in animal protection worldwide.
Partnering with the Humane Society has enabled us to host a sterilisation clinic once a month in a safe and clean environment for dogs to recover. Wild at Heart Foundation have successfully funded the sterilisation of over 550 dogs since working on the island and we hope to neuter over 1,000 dogs in Puerto Rico by the end of 2017!
