Whichever way you voted, the outcome of the UK referendum has understandably caused much speculation as to what the vote to leave the European Union means for us all. Here at the Wild at Heart Foundation we want to reassure our team, volunteers, rescuers and friends that, even though the coming weeks and months will be uncertain, we are prepared for this. The fundamentals of our Foundation are strong – our aim to improve the lives of animals worldwide will not waver and our ability to do this is entirely achievable. We are a young and agile charity with very low running costs and a passion far greater than anyone could dampen. Where there are challenges, we will rise to them – this sentiment runs deep to our core and is the very reason the Wild at Heart Foundation began.
In particular, we would like to reassure our rescuers and campaigners in all of the countries that we work (UK, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Borneo and Puerto Rico) that our support and dedication to you will not cease. We will continue to work with you to create a better future for both animals and people.
To our adopters and future adopters, we will still be able to rehome dogs to you wherever you may live. We have rehomed dogs to many countries including UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, Finland, Holland, Sweden, Belgium and Monaco. We don’t expect the rules to rehome dogs to the UK to change as they have been set to prevent the spread of rabies on our island. The outcome of the referendum and our relationship with the European Union should not effect this stance as these rules have applied to all countries from which dogs enter the UK.
To our supporters, campaigners, donators and all of friends, we encourage you to continue to work with us to raise awareness of mistreated, tortured and abused animals all over the world. Together, whichever country we come from, we will continue to take a stance against these terrible situations and we will make a difference.
We promise that however the coming weeks, months and years evolve our commitment to help to raise awareness and to help solve animal welfare issues will not falter. We deeply value our right in the UK to democracy. It is democracy that is the cornerstone of freedom, education, justice and compassion.
Much love and peace to you all.
