Sid very nearly didn't make it onto our website, as he was just hours away from being put to sleep on the day we rescued him. If we had gone in the afternoon of that Monday, Sid would't have been so lucky. This handsome boy is just a year old and he has spent the majority of his life behind bars, unnoticed, mistreated and forgotten. As a classic hunting breed, it is likely that Sid was the offspring of a dog belonging to a hunter who failed to have his dog neutered, and then he abandoned the puppies when he didn't know what to do with them.
Despite his rough beginning, Sid is a great character. He is very loving, intelligent, athletic, loyal and curious. He likes to learn new things, he loves the attention of adults and children alike, and he is an easy to manage dog of medium size. He would love a home with a great garden where he could play outside and chase after tennis balls, or perhaps near the countryside where he could enjoy long weekend walks. Due to his classic Pointer genes, Sid is very affectionate, thus making him an ideal family dog.
After escaping death, Sid was moved to private kennels where he deteriorated very quickly. He lost weight, became petrified, and was very uneasy around people. The moment we removed him from the confines of the establishment and took him to the pound it was like looking at another dog. Sid thrives off the interaction with humans and other dogs on a daily basis, reinforcing our belief that he will make a great family companion.
