Ilos was dumped at an army base in the summer and has since been cared for by local rescuer volunteers who have fallen in love with this gentle giant. It's likely that, given his size and breed mix, Ilos was supposed to be a guard dog and when his owners realised he was absolutely useless at his job, they abandoned him. Ilos is a very sweet natured, submissive and calm dog with a big heart. All he wants is a home of his own.
Ilos seeks affection at all times. He's tall enough to put his paws onto a grown person's shoulders but does so in the most gentle manner. He would make a very loyal companion and just wants a home where love is in abundance. Ilos is good with all other dogs and loves to play, sleep, eat and walk alongside them. He is also good with most cats as he's currently in a foster home with 8 who constantly come and pester him. At first he wasn't so sure, but has warmed to them more now and is happy to live alongside them.
Ilos doesn't like the sound of raised voices which might suggest he was shouted at in his past home. He becomes very submissive and will lay on the floor if he feels threatened. He's a bit of a scaredy cat, but he has a heart of gold. Ilos would prefer a home in a more rural environment with a nice garden to play in and another mild mannered dog to live alongside. He is also good with children and would therefore make a great family friend.
