URGENT - DOGS ABANDONED IN YARD NEED HOME - We need to find a home for these two beautiful dogs this week. Please help. Currently in North London.
Left all day in a tiny yard surrounded by dumped furniture, bins, a broken bath tub and rubbish. These two poor dogs had no human interaction and no place to sleep at night but they at least had each other. Even though they have been completely disowned, unbelievably Hector and Elsie are healthy, well-balanced, affectionate dogs.
Nadine and Nikki heard about their situation late on Friday night, and couldn’t bear the thought of them sleeping alone and frightened for another night. Yesterday they drove four hours to pick them up and take them home. They were so friendly and happy to see us – but clearly starved of human contact.
David Drew our resident dog behaviourist assessed them this morning for two hours, and found them both to be well-balanced dogs, keen to please and yearning for human interaction. Hector is a seven year old German wirehaired pointer, weighing 32kg and with the sweetest soulful eyes and character. He appears a wise calm boy, gentle but playful (after a bath!). He is about 60cm floor to shoulder. Elsie is a three year old small Labrador-cross, under 20kg and about 40cm floor to shoulder. She is so keen to please, with a happy and charming character. Elsie is bright as a button and would benefit from an active family.
We urgently need foster or ideally permanent homes for these two beautiful dogs ASAP within the next couple of days if possible. Otherwise they will need to go into kennels, which we really believe will be very detrimental to these two beautiful dogs. They can either go to a home together or separately. They appear to be good with other dogs, if introduced properly. They have not been child tested and for this reason we recommend only going to families with older children. For the sake of Hector and Elsie we would prefer long-term foster or permanent adoption.
