Today Nadine spoke at the London GeekGirl Meetup, a global movement for women to share ideas and inspiration in the tech, design and startup industries. GeekGirl's ambition is to highlight female role models in the industry, create networks for knowledge exchange, mentoring and sharing ideas – and, of course, to have fun!
They arrange monthly meetups and Nadine spoke at this month's seminar about 'Design for Social Impact' and how she set up the charity in less than a year while also working for an award-wining international management consultancy leading their marketing and communications division.
She explained how strategic, operational, legal and financial structures were put in place, how the website, social networks and blogs were set up, how they were awarded UK charitable status within two months of launch, how they have rehomed over 150 dogs from Bosnia, Romania, Greece, UK and Cyprus, and how they have plans under way for two neutering campaigns in Romania and Puerto Rico. In just ten months they have over 3000 visitors to their website each week, raised over £50,000 and have over 6,500 followers on social media. Here's to the next ten months!
