For those that follow this little diary you will know that it charts the progress of the Wild at Heart Foundation, a small growing charity who’s aim is to compassionately reduce the world’s 600 million stray dog population. The last few months have involved a lot of administrative work to become a UK registered charity, and with this now achieved(!), we will focus on achieving OUR MISSION…
… our mission is to open 1 UK rescue centre, run 10 national media campaigns, support 100 rescue projects, rehome 1,000 animals, educate 10,000 children and neuter 100,000 dogs – all by 2020!
This is an ambitious task, but we know we can do it - with your help… already in just a handful of months we have rehomed and neutered 88 dogs… not far from our first 100!
So what next?
To help deliver our mission we have created an OPERATIONAL HANDBOOK that sets out how we choose and support our projects around the world… if you would like to read it, message me and I’ll send you a copy.
Our current projects include the work we are doing with in CYPRUS, with our Eve Moore at the helm. Eve is over there at the moment working on two projects – 1) a neutering campaign to raise awareness of the importance of neutering in a community that finds it an alien concept, and 2) raising funds for the Limassol pound who are in desperate need of basic amenities.
In ROMANIA, we support wonderful young vet Anca with rehoming the dogs she rescues… We also begin to work with Alison from Paws2Rescue… and will be going out to Bucharest with her in early October to explore how we can help.
Our wonderful Tanja in BOSNIA (Animals we care Moster) works with us to rescue the poor dogs on the streets of Mostar. We will visit her in November to find out how we can run neutering campaigns and support the shelters in Mostar.
We are looking for an EXPERIENCED FUNDRAISER to join us… if you are one, or know one… get in touch (this is a paid role). We also need volunteers who can support in other ways:
- Foster or adopt a dog
- Financial, legal or charity experience
- Or if you just want to get involved and help!
Much love to your all for your support
